Spreadthesign dictionary needs support

The unique Spreadthesign dictionary of sign languages (https://spreadthesign.com) needs support of kind people to continue helping everyone in learning and using different sign languages. All the work with the dictionary haas been project-based and non-profit since 2006. The dictionary also contains a large amount of Estonian language and Estonian Sign Language. In addition to vocabulary and sentences, Spreadthesign allows you to learn sign languages ​​through an interactive Google map and 360-degree photos. Tactile signals used to communicate with deafblind people can also be found in the dictionary. At the beginning of 2025, sign language dialogues, presentations introducing 16 European countries and their cultures, and a fun quiz to test your knowledge will be added to the dictionary.

FEAPDA has a new president

On April 26th-27th, the 27th Congress of the European Federation of Associations of Teachers of the Deaf (FEAPDA) was held in Malahide, Ireland. The topic of the congress was diversity in deaf education. The congress and the FEAPDA council meeting that followed it, had a significant meaning for KLÕPS, as Raili Loit, a member of our small organization, was confirmed as the president of FEAPDA for the next three years at the event.

26th FEAPDA congress

Last week the 26th FEAPDA (The European Federation of Associations of Teachers of the Deaf) congress was held in Tallinn, which brought together participants and presenters from 11 different countries all over Europe. The focus of this year`s congress was on technology and its possibilities in Deaf education as well as in supporting the everyday life of hearing impaired children. The presentations of the congress were very versatile and among other things, gave a wide overview about the use of hearing aids, technology based services, innovative teaching and learning materials. The keynote speakers of the congress were Claudia Becker From Germany, Leo De Raeve from Belgium ja Peep Küngas from Estonia.
